Hi Shifters, 1. Positional play -- try to cycle the puck as a team, keep our heads up, look for our other mates, to give passes or receive. When there is player ahead of the puck carrier, the puck carrier should try to pass it up! Stay within the 4 zones (positions) of the ice. 5th zone (position) is the center supporting all 4 zones. 2. Forechecking/backchecking -- constant pressure, staying with your check, and don't give up or stop skating!
3. Puck possession -- if you have puck possession, don't just get rid of it, your better to get checked off the puck, then icing it or giving the opposing team possession. There are always options, i.e. look for a mate to pass to or skate with it, your center should be there for puck support, if you get checked! Let's start to work on the next level of play, which we are all capable of. We will just have to think past our regular habits! We are all at a level of being able to play smart hockey. Let's try to start using these options and the rest of our mates. Play more as a team, when we can progressively open up more options. TRUST ME, it's awesome hockey and a lot more rewarding. WE CAN DO IT!!!! Lets move our way up! Game by game. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT GAME TOGETHER AND EVERY GAME THAT FOLLOWS! STICK SHIFTERS ROCK!!!!!

Kicking off Spring/Summer Hockey in Division 4
May 28, 2007 (COACH) Hey Champions! It's great that you can all call yourselves champions. Those are bragging rights we worked so hard for... New Season... New Division... New Challenges... SUMMER SEASON Achievements:
1ST goal - CONTINUE TO HAVE FUN.
2ND goal - Let's see of we can keep our points average about .500 or above
(CAPTAIN) I am proud of our productive play during the Winter season with the conclusion of winning the Division title. We are really coming together as a team, and having fun doing it. There are lots of individual details that coach needs to work on. The little wrinkles will be ironed out as we go, with the help of each other. Eventually, we will play in unison. We Did It!! We Are the Division 6 Winter 2006-2007 Champions!

March 22, 2007 Playoffs are right around the corner. We have all really improved together as a team this pass winter season. The decision to move to 8 Rinks... to start fresh in the bottom and work our way up, it's all been GREAT. Click here for details... |
